I was born in beautiful, sunny Perth, Australia.  I had a carefree, fun-filled childhood spent mostly on Perth’s endless white beaches.  I was very much into sports – long distance running, ground hockey, and gymnastics.

My father’s hobby was building speed boats.  My family named the first boat the “Submarine” as it kept sinking.  Finally, he figured out how to keep his boats afloat, and from then on we’d go fishing every weekend.  We even took the boat out to some of the small islands 12 miles of the coast. My father was an architect and Master Builder of fine homes; my mother, his partner, was a talented Interior Designer.

After they retired in Perth they opened a fine antique store, the “Elizabethan House”, in Houston. I managed the store for them while they were on their 3 month buying trips to Europe.  Their clientele was international and included such luminaries as John Wayne.

I grew up loving art, architecture, and the performing arts.  I always had a passion for all things Russian, especially Fabergé, and managed to save enough to purchase my first Fabergé objet deluxe while I was in my early 20’s.  After this purchase, there was no turning back.  I was smitten!

Influenced by my love of antiques, I opened my own antique store in Houston in 1976.  I specialized in exquisite antique jewelry, silver, objets d’art and Fabergé.  In the early 1980’s I designed and built a gorgeous jewellery store inside the Galleria.

At that time there were 22 other jewellery stores in the Galleria.  From the day our store opened it was such a success that during Mother’s Day, Christmas and Saturdays there was a line of people patiently waiting their turn to enter the store.  We were told by the Galleria’s owners that we were consistently the first or second most successful jewellery store each month.

I became known as one of the most reputable and knowledgeable dealers in the U.S. and Europe.  The store’s clientele included Mikhael Baryshnikov, Lena Horn, Kiri Tekanawa, and Sarah Jessica Parker.  I was invited to lecture throughout the world on antique jewelry and Fabergé, including at  TEFAF, the famous European Fine Art Fair, in Maastricht, Holland, which draws more than 70,000 visitors from around the world.  I was told by the organizers not to expect too many people at my lecture as most attendees were only interested in viewing the magnificent booths.  I was told to expect 15-20 people. When the doors opened, there was a huge crowd waiting to be seated, once all the seats were taken they brought in more seats, and when those were all taken, and standing room filled, the organizers had to turn the rest of the people away.

I have always been very involved in Houston’s artistic community, serving on the Boards of Directors of the Houston Ballet Foundation( Vice President and Fund Drive Chairperson), the Society for the Performing Arts (over 20 years), the Houston Grand Opera, the Association for Community Television, Zoo Friends and the Children’s Museum.
